About Diabetic Retinopathy :

Diabetic Retinopathy :  The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) estimates that 5.3 million adults suffer from diabetic retinopathy , Diabetic retinopathy caused by complications of diabetes, which can eventually lead to blindness. It is an ocular manifestation of systemic disease.
Retinopathy  which includes damage to the blood vessels in the retina at the back of the eye. In some cases, fragile blood vessels swell and leak into the eye, blurring vision. Causing sever vision loss. Some people develop a condition called
macular edema. It occurs when the damaged blood vessels leak fluid and lipids onto the macula, the part of the retina that lets us see detail. The fluid makes the macula swell, which blurs vision. which can eventually lead to blindness. It is an ocular manifestation of systemic disease which affects up to 80% of all patients who have had diabetes for 10 years or more. Despite these intimidating statistics, research indicates that at least 90% of these new cases could be reduced if there was proper and vigilant treatment and monitoring of the eyes. The longer a person has diabetes, the higher his or her chances of developing diabetic retinopathy.
Diabetic retinopathy often has no early warning signs. Even
macular edema, which may cause vision loss more rapidly, may not have any warning signs for some time. In general, however, a person with macular edema is likely to have blurred vision, making it hard to do things like read or drive. In some cases, the vision will get better or worse during the day.
Chinese medical diagnosis Diabetic Retinopathy for deficiency of the qi and blood and  Deficiency of the liver yin and kidney yin .So the treatment need reinforce qi and blood , nourish liver and kidney.
Acupuncture around  eye point and body that it can Reduce inflammation and swelling and Increase blood flow, can reduce macular edema . acupuncture can improve vision.

Glaucoma :
About 2.2 million Americans age 40 and older have glaucoma , the second most common cause of blindness . Glaucoma is the name for a group of disease in which fluid builds up inside one or both eyes. Increasing the internal pressure and eventually damaging the optic nerve. If left untreated. People with glaucoma slowly lose their peripheral  vision.  Over time , central vision can also deteriorate . There are four forms of the disease : Open-angle(chronic) glaucoma . Angle-closure (acute) glaucoma .  Congenital glaucoma. Secondary glaucoma . Open-angle (chronic) glaucoma is the most common type of glaucoma.
Treatment glaucoma: eye drops that reduce eye pressure are the mainstay of glaucoma treatment .If drops don’t work , Acupuncture& Chinese Herb can   reduce eye pressure.Glaucoma  reduce eye pressure that the  acupuncture  10-15 time . If lost vision acupuncture can improve vision.
Chinese medical diagnosis glaucoma for stagnated of  live qi . Acupuncture reinforce method for deficiency of the liver and deficiency of qi, to remove the stagnation of the liver qi by puncturing the points.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration :
Age- Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) : Some 1.6 million Americans age 50 and older have AMD, according To the CDC. There are two forms
of the disease: dry and wet . Dry type have 90% patient .Central geographic atrophy, dry type  form of advanced AMD, results from atrophy of the retinal pigment epithelial layer below the retina, which causes vision loss through loss of photoreceptors (rods and cones) in the central part of the eye.
No medical or surgical treatment is available for this condition.
Wet type  form of advanced AMD, causes vision loss due to abnormal blood vessel growth in the
choriocapillaris, through Bruch's  membrane, ultimately leading to blood and protein leakage below the macula. Bleeding, leaking, and scarring from these blood vessels eventually cause irreversible damage to the photoreceptors and rapid vision loss if left untreated.
Chinese medical diagnosis dry type AMD for deficiency qi and blood of eye
Acupuncture treatment Age-Related Macular Degeneration that  it have  better results for dry type.  Acupuncture can increase blood flow in local. That reinforce the qi and blood , Nourish qi and blood by puncturing the points.
